Excel MVP from Canada

I started my career in public practice accounting, and spent 5 years working with small business preparing working papers and financial statements. I decided to move into industry accounting, allowing me to focus all my energy on one company where I could truly make a difference. Fortunately for me, being computer friendly also led me more and more into IT oriented positions. Building on my solid accounting skills, I became responsible for also developing internal controls, reporting systems, and researching, planning, building and implementing new systems.

I have also become an expert in Microsoft Excel. I created a website (www.excelguru.ca) which hosts a large knowledgebase of Excel help articles, a blog, and an active forum dedicated to helping users with their Excel issues. For the past several years I have also been teaching courses for companies and associations, showing Excel users how to get the most out of the program. My public contributions have earned me the Microsoft MVP award - an award given annually to "the best and brightest from technology communities around the world" - every year since 2006, as well as recognition as one of Vancouver Island's "Top 20 under 40" business and community leaders.

I have also been recognized as a fellow of the Certified Management Accountants of Canada (FCMA) by my peers - an honour held by less than 5% of CMA's, as well as awarded the status of Distinguished Alumni by Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Specialties: Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VBA programming and Power Pivot modeling, data cleansing and reshaping, and financial modelling.
